Bond Watch to Select a TeamBecause we were competing against 11 other teams, we designed a watch based on the Omega Seamaster, one of the watches Bond wears in Skyfall, in order to select which of the 12 hovercraft to control. We determined which team to select based on the position of a rotary encoder adhered to the base of the watch. We 3D printed small bevel gears that allowed us to rotate the crown of the watch, thereby turning the encoder and the watch hand attached to it. There was a also a push button embedded in the encoder, allowing us to press the hand down to pair or unpair. We manufactured the watch face by rastering a thin piece of acrylic many times on the laser cutter to create a thin plate and then adhering a vinyl sticker to the top. Below, you can see CAD of the internals of the watch and a nice rendering of the externals.

Golden Gun to Steer the CarTo control the hovercraft, the player pointed the Golden Gun straight ahead and pulled the trigger to accelerate -- we sensed the trigger position using a linear sliding potentiometer. To turn left or right, the player tilted the gun from side to side, which we sensed using an accelerometer. To brake, the player pointed the gun up (using the same accelerometer), and to reverse, the player cocked the gun using the hammer (a limit switch). Below, you can see a CAD rendering of our internal mechanisms -- the sliding pot on a spring, the limit switch, and the accelerometer (with signal conditional board).
